Age matters: Examining the cost and supply of care for infants and toddlers

This issue brief argues for a more precise analysis of the data with a careful look at supply, cost and revenue by age of child. A more specific interpretation of the data suggests that the challenges are not applicable to children of all ages but, in most cases, uniquely focused on infants and toddlers. In short, the United States has made noteworthy strides in improving the affordability, quality and supply of care for children over the age of three. Our challenge is caring for infants and toddlers. (author abstract)
